Get Inspired: Learning from Business Women Jo Malone speaking with Rochelle Humes

I really gained from listening to the wonderful perfumer Jo Malone share business learnings with Rochelle Humes on Ladies who Launch.

I experienced Jo speak 11 years ago in Dublin and have tuned into some of the podcasts she has since been interviewed on as I admire her honesty and how she gets into the bones of building businesses while balancing being creative. See my two key takeaways below.

There is some newness here. My two major takeaways were:

1. Have a Pizza Boardroom - Get your good friends from varying professions together in your home. Over pizza ask them 20 questions about your business. This is an excellent way to get feedback, gain knowledge and varying points of view.

2. Don’t be afraid to take on another job while growing your business. Jo herself said her Zara collaboration on their fragrances (which has continued past it’s initial three year planned contract) came at a time when her own second fragrance business Jo Loves was running out of money. The first year’s contract allowed her to pay wages for another six months in the business.

As a side note here are the 42 fragrances Jo Malone has created for Zara. Some of them are excellent with part of the concept being fragrances that emote while being accessible. Discover the Jo Loves Zara Collab Here.
